Hino star employees show their skills
Winners of the 2017 Hino Skills Contest - WA Hino’s Brandon Healey (Service), FRM Hino Hobart’s Luke Bennett (Sales) and West Orange Motor’s Tom Stewart (Parts)

Eighteen of Hino Australia’s most skilled parts, service and sales employees have competed against each other in the 2017 Hino National Skills Contest in Sydney on 24th August.

Hino Australia Chairman and CEO Steve Lotter spoke of the importance of the competition to Hino Australia, which is the accumulation of five months intense competition.

“At Hino, we pride ourselves on providing total support to our customers and their businesses while continuously building trust.

“One way we execute this is by having a skilled dealer network – it is essential for the continued success of Hino Australia that our staff continue to provide world-class service and knowledge to our customers.”

Sales and parts contestants demonstrated their skills in role play scenarios while the service technicians were tested on their diagnostic & technical skills.

A ‘Sale of the Century’ quiz further tested the knowledge of the sales participants while parts contestants displayed their knowledge in identifying genuine versus
non-genuine parts.

Through a series of hypothetical exercises, service contestants exhibited their diagnostic and componentry knowledge.

The 2017 National Skills Contest was won by WA Hino’s Brandon Healey (Service), FRM Hino Hobart’s Luke Bennett (Sales) and West Orange Motor’s Tom Stewart (Parts). It was Stewart’s second victory in a row.

Mr Lotter complimented the winners and all contestants on their skill, knowledge and determination.

The winner in each category (Parts, Service and Sales) receives an all-expenses paid trip to Japan in October to watch the Hino Japan Skills Contest.

The event was held at Hino Australia’s Sydney headquarters under the watchful eye of Mr Lotter and Hino Australia President and COO Shunichi (Sean) Takahashi.

They were joined by representatives from Hino Japan including Managing Officer Shigehiro Matsuoka, General Manager Overseas Service Division Toshiya Shiozawa, and Deputy General Manager Indonesia & Oceania Division Masashi (Max) Imaoka.
